It’s been over three months since I started posting content to this site! (I know, I can’t believe it, either.) WordPress has been–and probably will always be–a learning curve for me. My site definitely isn’t the most user-friendly, visually-appealing, well-designed out there on the Net, but, hopefully with time, this site will improve in these areas. For now, I want to talk about some updates I’ll be making to my content areas:

  1. My book blog, Dusting Off the Classics, is going to be more about really getting people to read the books I’m discussing rather than going super in-depth about the book like a review would. (I plan on going in-depth with my Goodreads.com account.) I want to do my part in ensuring that classic novels still find their way into our shrinking attention spans, and I believe that means that Dusting Off needs some tweaking/revamping.
  2. I’ll continue posting weekly flash fiction stories as part of my other blog/series, Lightning. In recent weeks, I’ve noticed my posts are getting a bit longer, so I’m going to try and keep the “flash” part of “flash fiction” more in mind. Also, because of the great feedback from “Bake It Till You Make It,” I might be posting more deliberately bad work for humorous purposes. Another thing I’m considering is posting redux or 2.0 versions of earlier stories to see how they fare.
  3. I’m excited to say that THIS TUESDAY (sorry, maybe I’m sounding a little too-o-o-o excited), I’ll be starting a new series that could be either stand-alone or a sub-blog of Dusting Off the Classics. Posting weekly, this as-yet-unnamed series will talk about books (and reading), too, but in a more freestyle manner . . . and it will take itself less seriously. I’m not 100% sure what the format is going to be just yet, but some of my ideas for it are author vs. author “duels” to see who is better–for instance, Tolstoy vs. Dostoevsky dueling for Russian literature’s crown–and rankings of author’s works. Of course, this is all subject to change!

With that in mind, I’ll be altering my posting schedule. Dusting Off the Classics will still post every Sunday, but flash fiction moves to Thursdays to make room for my new series, which will be on Tuesdays. I will try my best to post regularly so that no one’s playing a guessing-game with arrival times of my content.

Thank you for your time, and have a great rest of your weekend!
